Has anyone else but me worked with this yet? It looks very cool, streaming 5.1 surround...WooHoo!

If you have not messed with it yet, please do, it pretty neat from what I have seen so far.

Anyone else have thoughts on the subject?

It wouldn't surprise me if it's full of MS spyware.

It's definitely full of "Copyright protection" code. Microsoft is pushing hard to make you pay for stuff. I'm sure this release is meant to hook into Palladium.

There's a reason Internet Explorer has no version or patch that turns off Popups, only obscure third-party plugins. See how long those work in new versions.

oh, yes, it has it's share of the copyright protection stuff. I really don't have a problem with copyright protection myself. The internet is making people like record labels go a bit far, but it won't last...

I am speaking strictly of the sound quality, encoding size, performance and such. Not the more controvertial pieces of it.

As a whole I think artists have every right to protect their creations, so them attempting to protect it I don't really mind myself...bepending how far they plan to take it. They are pushing the line right now, but like I said, I don't think it will last...

I'm going to avoid the tremendous debate that is copyrights Mad It's out of scope. However that side discussion is what's prevented me thus far from even upgrading to Media Player 8. I didn't like some of the lockdowns 7.1 was placing on what I tried to play, so I stopped upgrading.

I learned my lesson in upgrading Microsoft software when I upgraded to the latest version of Outlook 2000 to receive a pleasant castration of all attachments besides innocuous images and text files. The only way around the castration is to get IT here at the company to roll out a Policy update specifically for this crappy update, which I'm not about to bother them for.

ya, the whole copyrights thing can be a can of worms that wouldn't be very productive here. Suffice it to say I am a musician and a songwriter and I would like the right to protect my stuff, so I see no reason why the big guys shouldn't protect theirs. The main prob is that it usually isn't the artists, it's the labels and studios. Also, these laws they are trying to pass about actually invading PC's looking for stuff at will is rediculas...THAT is going to far.

I dunno where everyone is from, but where I am from it's "innocent until proven guilty"

I am having a problem with some sites (like CNN) and the streaming video. I get the video but no sound. Seems to only be a problem when the site is using Media Player. I have version 10. I really don't have any idea where to look for the problem.

All help is greatly appreciate
